Here is one that I complete in 2.5 hours pencils and inks in Manga Studio. I call it Spider-Man movie because I recorded this to show you the process on Youtube. You can watch it on my channel at MrRamstudios1 if you would like or just click here [link]. Let me know what you think of my drawing of the old web head as the great Stan Lee likes to call him.
Have a great one and as always....More to come!
This is Fan Art and is property of Marvel Comics created by Stan Lee.
Starting with the good, you have a good idea of body proportions and positioning. That part is very obvious and clear! You also have a good idea of perspective and using that to the advantage of the overall piece.
My only real problems: The foreshortening of the arm, the hand might be angled just a bit to give it an easier transition between the wrist and the forearm.
The crotch area shouldn't be this flat. Men have a "package" and that should be given some definition. I'm not talking about giving him a porn pouch or a full-on boner but the flatness here is odd and distracting because your muscles are nicely done and given a good deal of weight by light and shadow. Rounding the crotch area to give it a bit of fullness would go along with the rest of the piece.
This last bit is something most ALL comic artists do.
Very very good spidey my friend! Your unique style really shines through here while also portraying certain similarities to many of the TASM greats! I see a lot of Ditko here(mainly in the way you did the webbing), but also a lot of McFarlene(which, coming from me should be a great compliment as his art is what got me into drawing) as others have said before me. It's got a real visual impact as his art always does. I've always thought his art sort of jumped off the page and attacked your eyes(in a good way) and that's what yours does here! But you also display your own unique style which is great all on its own! I wouldnt mind if you drew for TASM! My main problem would have to be spidey's left arm. I think you tried some foreshortening here but it kind of falls flat. It's not too too bad but some imorovement wouldn't hurt(and I say this with the utmost respect. I live your art a lot!) Also what someone else said, the thumb in the same arm looks kinda weird. Could be a bit bigger. One other small, small thing is the right leg. It kinda looks out of proportion but that may just be me. Overall, this is a freaking amazing spiderman (see what I did there?)! Keep it up RAM! I love seeing your stuff and good luck with BlackStone!
I'm so happy that you like it and thanks for favoring it as well. It was my first "Black & White" conversion of this type. Needless to say, that I'm not 100% satisfied with the results, but being that you like it... I feel much better about it now. I will continue to do conversions and with time, I only see my conversions improving... Thanks
